Award-winning care provider, Whiddon is thrilled to announce the well-deserved recipients of its prestigious scholarship program, which aims to enrich the careers of employees and elevate the standards of care in the aged care sector.
This year, 20 dedicated Whiddon employees across Whiddon’s care homes and Support Services in NSW and Southeast Queensland have been awarded scholarships to further their education and career development, including the newly introduced Rees-Naughton Scholarship.
The Rees-Naughton Scholarship honours the legacy of former Whiddon Board members Bill Rees and Gerald Naughton, both of whom were both passionate about seeing Whiddon’s people succeed. This scholarship provides access to cutting-edge development opportunities, empowering employees to elevate their performance and implement innovative practices within their teams.
With a maximum funding amount of $10,000 available, this year’s recipient, Behnaz Habibkhoda from Whiddon Easton Park’s Support Services, will be able to pursue a program that enhances her skills, and the services provided by Whiddon.
“I am incredibly grateful to receive this scholarship, as it not only supports my personal and professional growth but also empowers me to provide even better care for our residents. This opportunity will help me develop new skills that can directly benefit our community and enhance the quality of care at Whiddon,” says Behnaz.
In addition to the Rees-Naughton Scholarship, Whiddon is proud to award The Career Growth Scholarship to 19 employees across various roles and departments. These scholarships aim to provide access to vocational and tertiary studies in fields such as health, nursing, diversional therapy, catering, human resources, and management.
Whiddon CEO, Chris Mamarelis, emphasises the importance of the scholarship programs in supporting employee growth, and the delivery of quality relationship-based care
“Whiddon’s purpose is to enrich people’s lives, and our scholarship programs reflect our commitment to that mission. At Whiddon, we understand the importance of fostering a culture of growth and development. By investing in our people, we are not only enhancing their careers but also improving the quality of care for our residents.”
With the support of corporate partners and organisations, these scholarships ensure that employees in regional, rural, and remote locations have equal access to educational opportunities.
