    "body": "<p><strong>Temora, NSW</strong> [8 April 2026] &mdash; Whiddon Temora is celebrating a major milestone for the community today, unveiling formal plans for the recently announced redevelopment of its Temora Narraburra care home, designed to deliver high-quality aged care for the region.</p><p>The $25.6 million redevelopment project is supported by a $19.5 million Australian Government grant through the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program.</p><p>The official unveiling event brings together residents, families, staff, and local leaders to take a first look at the future of care in the region. The plans feature artist impressions of the new building, showing its location at the rear of the existing Narraburra home that will unify the site into one exceptional care home.</p><p>The redevelopment, <a href=\"https://whiddon.prezly.com/whiddon-temora-redevelopment-secures-21-million-federal-government-grant\">announced in December 2025</a>, will deliver a modern, dementia-friendly two-storey wing with 54 aged care places, expanded clinical and training spaces, and upgraded back-of-house facilities including the kitchen and laundry. Services will be consolidated across the site, incorporating our Greenstone Lodge Home, into the one Home, and increasing capacity from 76 to 92 residents. </p><p>Upgrades will ensure high-quality, relationship-based care to meet the growing needs of the Temora community and support regional aged care into the future. The redevelopment also reflects best-practice design for dementia-friendly care and upgraded clinical facilities, reinforcing Whiddon&rsquo;s commitment to innovation and excellence in regional aged care.</p><p>The event also marks an important milestone for Whiddon Temora&rsquo;s Residential Services Manager, Gail Lynch, who is set to retire after 20 years of dedicated service. Gail has been at the heart of Whiddon Temora for decades, shaping a culture of compassion, connection, and community. Her retirement is celebrated alongside the redevelopment, symbolising a new chapter in care for the home. </p><p>Speaking to the double milestone event, <strong>Whiddon CEO Chris Mamarelis</strong> said:</p><p><em>&ldquo;The unveiling of these plans marks an important step forward for aged care in Temora. They not only represent an exciting new chapter for our care home, but the significant investment and ongoing commitment to ensuring residents can receive the very best care close to home, now and into the future.&rdquo;</em></p><p>He continues,<em> &ldquo;It is bittersweet that the redevelopment milestone also coincides with the retirement of our longstanding Residential Services Manager, Gail Lynch. Her leadership and dedication have shaped a legacy of exceptional care in Temora, one that will proudly continue to inspire and be felt throughout our new care home.&rdquo;</em></p><p>With a growing ageing population in the region and no alternative aged care provider within 70 kilometres, the project responds to an urgent community need while strengthening collaboration between Whiddon, the Federal Government, and Temora Shire Council.</p><p>It has never been more important to invest in, renew and rebuild aged care services in our regional communities. Demand continues to grow, shortages are well documented, and by partnering with government - as we have in Temora - we can bring more of these vital projects to life.</p><p>Whiddon has already invested $3 million in early works, including a new carpark and upgraded kitchen and laundry facilities. Construction is due to commence from April/May 2026, with strong engagement of regional trades and suppliers.
